Our Story
Origins
Taylor Battistella started Everything Silkworms after sitting in his school classroom and watching a video in Japanese class. During the video, the children were rearing silkworms from home.
The reason
“I decided I wanted to get some silkworms, so I bought 100 eggs and reared them in a shoebox from my bedroom, and as they say, the rest is history. Since then, I have supplied 1,000's of schools and 10,000+ retail customers across the country” he said.
A life's work
Having now worked with silkworms for more than half his life, Battistella is determined to help lead the growth of an Australian silk industry saying that "the health of the mulberry tree is the single most important factor when it comes to the health of the silkworm and its silk. Forget about China! Given Australia's remarkable climate, we don't have any excuse to not be rearing the highest quality silk of any country in the world."
Expansion
In 2023, Battistella launched skincare company, Seresilk which is the world's only skincare brand using Australian silk. His stated goal being to "help increase the demand for Australian silk, and therefore help fuel the growth of a new Australian industry."

Current projects
We are currently looking into making a Mulberry Tree Map, consisting of every Mulberry Tree in Australia.
The idea behind it is that it will enable everyone who doesn’t have a Mulberry Tree to still be able to raise Silkworms.
If you know of any Mulberry tree locations in Australia, please get in touch, and we will send you a FREE map once we have completed it.

If you have spare cocoons please contact us or continue reading below to find information on how to prepare and post your waste cocoons.
The cocoons do not require any form of special preparation. While it would be appreciated if you could ensure there is no loose frass or mulberry leaves hanging from the silk, we will still happily take cocoons of any quality, quantity or size. We would even appreciate it if you were to remove the dry skin from inside the cocoon.

If you would like to be reimbursed for reasonable postage costs, please send a copy of your receipt and remittance advice inside the parcel so they it can be credited upon receipt of the parcel.
